The report points out that mid-career professionals (aged 35–54) are emerging as the most enthusiastic and confident group regarding AI adoption:

Many workers are already using generative AI for customer service scripts, documentation, and process management, underlining the democratisation of AI usage across job categories.

This shift towards inclusive AI adoption suggests that advanced digital tools are now being integrated even into front-line and operational workflows, making upskilling an imperative for workers at every level of the employment spectrum.

Employers expected to provide structured support

Indian employees are also expecting structured training support from employers. Around 29% expressed a preference for self-paced learning modules, while many others want dedicated time during office hours to develop AI competencies. This feedback signals a growing expectation that organisations will play an active role in reskilling their workforce to ensure smoother technology transitions.

AI transition brings risks—but also opportunities

While the mood overall remains optimistic, the report also acknowledges the potential risks of rapid AI adoption. Citing a Goldman Sachs study, Indeed’s report warns that global unemployment could increase by 0.5% during the AI transition phase, particularly in roles such as accounting, programming, and customer support — which are highly susceptible to automation.

However, industry experts quoted in the report noted that reskilling and AI literacy can mitigate these risks. Professionals who embrace AI tools are likely to gain access to:

  • Higher-paying roles

  • Faster career progression

  • Opportunities in emerging job categories linked to AI deployment, governance and innovation
