  • Yogi Adityanath hails 11 years of Modi rule as golden period of India’s development and self-reliance, free from dynastic corruption

  • Referring to Operation Sindoor after Pahalgam terror attack, he says India responds with strength, not silence, unlike pre-2014 governments

  • India has regained global honour under PM Modi’s leadership, establishing a strong identity and trust among 140 crore citizens

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, made a strong declaration of India’s aggressive new defence stance, asserting that the country now answers terrorism and war threats with air strikes, surgical strikes and missions like Operation Sindoor, rather than silence.

He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering celebrating the completion of 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership at the Centre. His speech was not only a reflection of the BJP’s development narrative but also a reiteration of the government’s hardline stance on national security.

India Responds with Strength, Not Silence

Referring to Operation Sindoor, launched after the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, Yogi Adityanath said:

“If someone imposes war on us or encourages terrorism, the answer will be surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor.”

He contrasted this assertiveness with what he called the “passive” attitude of previous governments. According to him, pre-2014 India was reluctant to respond forcefully, choosing instead to chant the “mantra of peace” even during moments of grave provocation.

“There was a mindset that India should only advocate peace, irrespective of circumstances. But the ‘new normal’ under PM Modi has completely changed that. India now responds with strength, not silence,” he added.

11 Years of Modi Rule a 'Golden Period'

In his speech, the Chief Minister lavishly praised the 11-year tenure of PM Narendra Modi, calling it a “golden period” in the making of a self-reliant and developed India.

“These years have laid the foundation for a powerful and Atmanirbhar Bharat. India under Modi has emerged as a global symbol of trust and credibility,” he asserted.

Yogi highlighted service delivery, administrative reforms and pro-poor policies as the hallmarks of the current regime. He noted that corruption, dynastic politics and appeasement have been decisively rejected under Mr. Modi’s leadership.

Criticism of Previous Governments

Yogi Adityanath didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Congress-led governments that ruled India for decades. He claimed that India’s honour and identity had been eroded under the 65 years of Congress and other “unstable” regimes.

“Prime Minister Modi has given India a distinct identity on the global stage. Unlike the past, India is now confident and respected internationally,” he said.

He further noted that the current government has restored faith among the country’s 140 crore citizens, and that India’s growing stature in international diplomacy, security and economic reforms is a direct result of the vision of decisive governance.

Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat: Realising the Vision

Yogi Adityanath spoke about the realisation of the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ — a united and powerful India. He said that this dream is finally taking shape through Modi’s decisive leadership and a nationalist governance model that combines development with security.

“The India of today is not afraid to respond. We have shown through Operation Sindoor and various defence actions that any aggression will be met with a firm reply,” he said.

This statement comes amid an atmosphere of rising geopolitical tensions and domestic focus on national security, with the BJP preparing its narrative for upcoming state and national elections.

Operation Sindoor: A Turning Point

Operation Sindoor, launched in the wake of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, has become a symbol of India’s military retaliation strategy. Yogi’s reference to it underscores the government’s intention to make national security a central electoral theme and differentiate itself from previous governments, which it accuses of being soft on terror.

The operation is being portrayed as a continuation of surgical strikes and air strikes witnessed earlier under the Modi regime, further pushing the idea of a bold, uncompromising India.

Reclaiming National Honour

According to Yogi Adityanath, India has not only protected its borders but has reclaimed its lost global honour. He framed Modi’s 11-year rule as an era of renewed trust, where India commands respect from allies and deterrence against adversaries.

“The idea of a helpless, submissive India is gone. Today, we are self-reliant, self-respecting and globally recognised,” the Chief Minister declared.

This speech is a part of a broader nationwide campaign by BJP leaders to showcase the Modi government’s achievements in the last 11 years as a springboard to future electoral gains, particularly in the run-up to 2026 Assembly elections and 2029 General Elections
