Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the BJP government over multiple governance failures in Uttar Pradesh, questioning the whereabouts of over 1000 missing persons from the Maha Kumbh festival. Addressing reporters outside Parliament, Yadav challenged the state government to provide clarity on the status of these missing individuals to their families.
Akhilesh Yadav Challenges BJP on Missing Persons at Maha Kumbh
Yadav alleged that more than 1000 people who went missing during the Maha Kumbh festival were yet to be found. He directly asked the Centre to disclose the exact amount sanctioned for the festival, raising concerns over financial transparency. The Maha Kumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, witnessed an overwhelming crowd, and the disappearance of such a large number of people has sparked serious concerns.
Questions Over Youth Employment in Uttar Pradesh
Taking a dig at UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Yadav questioned the government’s claim of employing four lakh youths to ferry pilgrims on motorcycles during the Maha Kumbh. He sarcastically remarked, “Our Chief Minister is an amazing man. He says four lakh youths having bikes were employed. What kind of commercial strategy is this? It means that youths will get jobs after 144 years.” This statement reflects the growing frustration over youth unemployment in Uttar Pradesh.
SP Chief Slams BJP Over Law & Order Deterioration
Yadav also launched a scathing attack on UP’s law and order, alleging that the BJP government was misusing the police force for political gains. He accused the administration of filing false cases against opposition leaders and harassing them to suppress dissent. According to the SP Chief, the BJP’s governance model thrives on intimidation tactics, and the misuse of state machinery has led to increased political vendetta in the region.
Uttar Pradesh’s Healthcare System in Crisis
Further attacking the BJP, Akhilesh Yadav criticized the state’s healthcare infrastructure, highlighting its severe shortcomings. He stated that patients in government hospitals and medical colleges are not receiving proper treatment due to the lack of doctors, nurses, and medical staff. He accused the BJP of diverting attention from real issues by focusing on divisive topics like Sambhal and Aurangzeb to hide its failures.
Yadav emphasized that the BJP government has failed in addressing inflation, unemployment, and corruption, pushing the state into an economic crisis. According to him, the ruling party is spreading hatred to distract people from its inefficiency in governance.
Opposition Demands Transparency from the BJP Government
The Samajwadi Party Chief has urged the BJP government to be transparent about the funding and administration of the Maha Kumbh festival. He demanded an official report on the missing persons and asked whether the UP government has any real plan to provide employment opportunities to the youth apart from such temporary schemes.
Conclusion: Will BJP Address the Rising Concerns?
With the 2024 elections approaching, these allegations against the BJP government could have significant political implications. The concerns raised by Akhilesh Yadav reflect the growing unrest among the people regarding law enforcement, employment, and public welfare in Uttar Pradesh. The ruling party will need to address these concerns to maintain public confidence.
