  • PM Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara production line and hybrid battery plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, stressing India’s role in global investments.

  • He urged all states to compete in reforms, pro-development policies, and good governance to attract global investors looking at India.

  • Highlighting India-Japan ties, Modi said Suzuki’s manufacturing in India reflects confidence in Make in India and strengthens global partnerships.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a strong nationwide pitch for development, reforms, and good governance while inaugurating two major projects at the Maruti Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat. The event witnessed the rollout of the first Made in India Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara electric vehicle (EV) from the production line, followed by the announcement of a new plant dedicated to manufacturing hybrid battery electrodes.

The ceremony was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Japanese Ambassador Keiichi Ono, marking a significant milestone for India’s automobile sector and its growing electric mobility ecosystem.

India must compete state by state

In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that every state in India should compete in reforms, pro-development policies, and good governance. He said that the global spotlight on India presents a unique opportunity for all states to attract investments and showcase their ability to deliver on growth-oriented policies.

"Today, the entire world is looking towards India. At such a time, no state should lag behind. Every state should take advantage of this opportunity. Investors coming to Hindustan should be so confused that they think, should I go to this state or that state. I invite all states, come, let's compete in Reforms, compete in Pro-Development Policies, compete in Good Governance," Modi remarked.

By encouraging competition among states, the prime minister highlighted that India’s federal structure can act as a growth engine, where regional governments play a decisive role in shaping the country’s development trajectory.

India’s win-win proposition for global partners

PM Modi described India as an attractive hub for manufacturing and investments, citing the country’s demographic advantage, skilled workforce, and stable policies. He stated that India offers a “win-win situation” for all global partners who are looking to expand their presence.

He pointed out that Suzuki Japan manufacturing in India and exporting cars back to Japan is a symbolic example of the confidence the world has in India’s industrial capabilities.

"This is not only a symbol of the strength of the relationship between India and Japan, but also reflects the global confidence in India. In a way, companies like Maruti Suzuki have become brand ambassadors of Make in India," he said.

With the launch of the Made in India e-Vitara, Modi underlined that Indian-made electric vehicles will soon run across multiple countries, carrying the tag of “Made in India” globally. This, he said, was proof of the country’s ability to integrate itself with the future of sustainable mobility.

Maruti Suzuki’s new projects in Gujarat

The rollout of the first e-Vitara electric SUV marks an important step for Maruti Suzuki, which has been the cornerstone of India’s automobile market for decades. The project reflects Suzuki’s commitment to green mobility solutions and aligns with India’s long-term vision of reducing dependency on fossil fuels.

Along with this, the new hybrid battery electrode manufacturing plant is expected to give India a strategic edge in the electric vehicle supply chain. By producing critical EV components domestically, India is strengthening its push for self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) in the automobile sector.

India-Japan partnership in focus

PM Modi also highlighted the long-standing India-Japan economic and cultural partnership, stressing that collaborations like Suzuki’s not only boost economic growth but also enhance diplomatic ties. The prime minister referred to Suzuki’s projects as an example of how foreign investments can seamlessly integrate with India’s development model.

He said that companies like Suzuki are now functioning as global ambassadors of India’s manufacturing excellence, proving that the country can play a significant role in reshaping global supply chains.

The bigger vision for Indian states

The prime minister’s remarks extend beyond the automobile industry and represent a larger vision for India’s growth model. By urging states to adopt competitive reforms, PM Modi aims to create an ecosystem where federalism translates into competitive advantage.

The push for good governance, investment-friendly policies, and sustainable growth reflects the government’s determination to position India as a global leader in the coming decade.

Conclusion

PM Modi’s message from Gujarat sends a strong signal that India’s growth is no longer limited to central initiatives but requires active participation from every state. With the launch of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and the hybrid battery electrode plant, the prime minister not only showcased India’s industrial progress but also laid down a vision of inclusive growth and competitive governance.

As the world looks towards India for manufacturing, investment, and innovation, the prime minister’s call for states to compete in reforms and good governance serves as a roadmap for India’s journey towards becoming a global economic powerhouse.
