Home Minister Amit Shah, on March 15, 2025, highlighted the significant strides in peace and development in the Northeast region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Speaking at a function in Aizawl to mark the relocation of an Assam Rifles camp outside the city, Mr. Shah underlined the Centre’s commitment to the welfare and progress of Mizoram.

According to Amit Shah, the Modi government has ensured unprecedented peace in the Northeast, a region historically marked by insurgency and conflict. This peace has gone hand in hand with sustained efforts towards economic and infrastructural development to improve the quality of life for local communities.

The relocation of the Assam Rifles camp was a symbolic and practical step demonstrating the Centre’s sensitivity and responsiveness to the concerns of the Mizo people. Moving the camp outside Aizawl addresses local demands and helps maintain peace while ensuring security in the region.

Amit Shah emphasised that the BJP-led government is focused on making Mizoram a safe, peaceful, and beautiful state. He noted that Prime Minister Modi himself is personally overseeing various development projects in Mizoram to accelerate progress and transform the region.

This move and ongoing developmental work underscore the government's strategy to integrate the Northeast fully into India’s growth story while maintaining harmony and stability. The Centre’s efforts are aimed at bringing lasting peace to the region while boosting socio-economic indicators.
