IMD issues yellow alert for Bengaluru with moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds till May 20
One or two places in Bengaluru and nearby districts may get heavy rain and thundershowers daily
Rain expected to ease from May 21 with partly cloudy skies and no rain forecasted

Bengaluru residents can expect some relief from the intense heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued rainfall and thundershowers till May 20, 2025. The weather office has issued a yellow alert for the city and surrounding regions in Karnataka, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall and associated adverse conditions.

Rain and Winds Today

Today, heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are likely in some areas of Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts. The IMD has also forecast similar conditions in nearby districts including Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Kolar, Ballari, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru.

Additionally, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in parts of Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Shivamogga.

Bengaluru 7-Day Weather Outlook

From May 17 through May 20, Bengaluru is expected to experience partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers each day. The temperature will stay relatively steady with the minimum around 22°C and the maximum reaching up to 33°C.

From May 21 onwards, the rainfall is expected to subside, with forecasts predicting partly cloudy skies and no rain for May 21 and 22.
