The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are gaining momentum as the Janata Dal United (JDU), led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has announced its complete list of 101 candidates under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seat-sharing arrangement. With the release of its second and final list of 44 names, JDU has now finalised its candidates for all constituencies allocated to it, setting the stage for a heated contest.
JDU Final Candidate List Highlights
The final list features several prominent leaders, including Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who will contest from Supaul. The party has also fielded four Muslim candidates: Saba Zafar (Amour), Manzar Alam (Jokihat), Shagufta Azim (Araria), and Mohd Zama Khan (Chainpur). In terms of gender representation, 13 women have been fielded by JDU across different constituencies.
The announcement came a day after JDU released its first list of 57 candidates, making this the conclusive list of nominees. Nitish Kumar’s careful selection reflects a strategy of balancing caste, community, gender, and regional representation to maximise the party’s prospects in the upcoming polls.
NDA’s Seat-Sharing and Candidate Breakdown
The NDA coalition has so far declared candidates for 226 out of 243 seats, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JDU contesting 101 seats each. The BJP has also fielded 13 women candidates in its lineup.
