A shocking incident of student violence has emerged from Sasaram, Bihar, where a Class 10 student was shot dead in a clash between two groups of students. The altercation, which initially started inside an examination centre on Thursday, escalated outside, leading to gunfire. Another student sustained injuries, and police have detained the accused classmate involved in the shooting.

Deadly Student Clash in Sasaram

The incident occurred in Rohtas district, where Amit Kumar, a Class 10 student, was attacked while returning home with his friend Sanjit Kumar. As per Superintendent of Police (SP) Raushan Kumar, a classmate of the victims stopped them and opened fire, hitting Amit in the back and Sanjit in the leg. The accused then fled the scene.

Locals and police officials rushed the injured students to a government hospital, but Amit succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Sanjit's condition is stable, according to doctors.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities have registered a case, and the minor accused has been taken into police custody. Investigators have seized the firearm used in the attack and the suspect’s mobile phone. However, the exact reason behind the clash remains unknown.

SP Raushan Kumar confirmed that police are investigating whether the fight was pre-planned or escalated due to a personal dispute. Officers are also questioning other students who were present at the examination centre when the initial altercation occurred.

Protests by Family and Locals

Following the tragic death of Amit Kumar, his family members and villagers staged a protest, blocking a nearby highway and burning tyres. They kept Amit’s body on the road, demanding swift justice and immediate action against the accused.

Senior police officials intervened and assured the family that the case would be handled with urgency. The blockade was lifted after negotiations with the protesters.
