As the dust settles over Operation Sindoor, the recent India-Pakistan ceasefire has become a heated political issue. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leadership has crafted a communication strategy to firmly counter the Opposition’s narrative questioning the ceasefire’s circumstances and the role of the United States in brokering the truce.
BJP’s Communication Approach
BJP sources reveal that the party will focus on amplifying verified operational details released by the defense and diplomatic establishments. This will be paired with a reiteration of key decisions by the BJP-led NDA government, particularly those taken after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025.
The core message will emphasize that Operation Sindoor remains ongoing and showcase the strength of a “Naya Bharat” capable of striking at the “heart of Pakistan.” The communication will also underline India’s “new normal” — taking the fight directly to terror camps deep across the border.
Military and Non-Military Measures Highlighted
Besides military actions, the BJP intends to highlight significant non-military steps announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, such as:
-
Suspending the Indus Waters Treaty
-
Discontinuing trade with Pakistan
-
Prohibiting Pakistani actors from working in India
-
Changing India’s approach to counter-terrorism on its soil
The party plans to deploy state units extensively to spread these messages at grassroots levels.
Cultural Campaigns and Public Outreach
In an effort to boost morale and public support, North East Delhi MP and Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari has prepared a song celebrating the valour of Indian armed forces and India’s “never-before retaliation” under Modi’s leadership. The song is expected to be released soon.
Furthermore, the BJP is currently engaged in an 11-day nationwide Tiranga Yatra, which serves as a campaign platform to showcase the successes of Operation Sindoor and rally public sentiment.
Countering Congress Criticism
The BJP is also preparing to counter the Congress, which has criticized the government’s ceasefire announcement by invoking former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s strong military actions during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
A BJP source called this a false propaganda narrative, stating that Operation Sindoor was a precise and measured action that any government would take in a conflict between two nuclear powers. The BJP aims to educate the public about the gaps and inaccuracies in the Congress’s comparison.
Disputing the US Intervention Narrative
One of the BJP’s upcoming challenges is to dispel the myth about US intervention playing a key role in brokering the ceasefire. The party has begun emphasizing historical instances when the US intervened during Congress-led governments in India to influence India-Pakistan relations.
This narrative seeks to reclaim the story of India’s sovereign decisions and counter claims that the current government relied on external powers to enforce peace.
