The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on Tuesday unveiled its second manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, focusing heavily on the youth and welfare schemes. The document, titled Resolution 2.0, was released at the state office and aims to address critical issues such as employment, education, and healthcare.
Addressing the press, BJP MP Anurag Thakur emphasized the party's commitment to empowering Delhi's youth. As part of the initiative, the BJP has promised to provide a lump sum of Rs 15,000 for youth preparing for state competitive exams. Additionally, the BJP government, if voted to power, will reimburse the cost of travel to examination centers, thereby making education more accessible to aspiring candidates.
Thakur also discussed the party's vision for a developed Delhi within the broader framework of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). He said, "When we imagine Viksit Bharat, there is a role for Viksit Delhi to play." The party's 'Sankalp' (resolution) is focused on making Delhi a more developed and prosperous city, with a commitment to improving essential public services. Thakur also pointed to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the pandemic, highlighting public welfare schemes, including free vaccines and Jal Jeevan Mission, as examples of the government's dedication to public service.
The BJP manifesto also promises free education for needy students in government education institutes in Delhi from KG to PG. Furthermore, the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides health insurance coverage, will be extended to 51 lakh people in Delhi, who were previously excluded under the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government. JP Nadda, BJP's National President, assured that this scheme would be implemented in the first Cabinet meeting if the BJP forms the next government in Delhi. The Ayushman Bharat program will provide a Rs 5 lakh health coverage to these individuals, marking a significant step in the party's efforts to improve healthcare accessibility for all Delhi residents.
In addition to these promises, the BJP has also proposed the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, which aims to give Rs 2,500 to every woman in Delhi every month, focusing on improving financial independence and empowerment for women across the capital.
The Sankalp Patra has been created after receiving extensive feedback from the public, with the BJP holding 12,000 meetings and gathering approximately 1,80,000 feedbacks. Ideas were also collected through 41 LED Vans, ensuring a broad range of input from Delhi's diverse population.
The Delhi Assembly elections are set to be held on February 5, with the results to be declared on February 8. A three-way contest is expected between the ruling AAP, the BJP, and the Congress. While Congress ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, it has seen a steady decline in its influence in recent elections. In the 2020 Delhi elections, AAP dominated by securing 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP won only eight seats.
With the upcoming elections, the BJP's promises focus on addressing Delhi's urgent needs in education, healthcare, and employment. Whether or not these promises resonate with voters will determine the fate of the party in the upcoming assembly elections.
