  • BJP Telangana president Ramchander Rao says party will campaign against Congress for 10% quota for Muslims taken from BC reservation quota.

  • Rao urges BJP workers to unite for local body polls while pledging to promote ‘abusive-free’ politics and youth participation in the State.

  • BJP leaders call on social media platforms to avoid spreading false news that vitiates the political atmosphere in Telangana.

The Telangana BJP has decided to launch a strong campaign against the Congress government in the State over what it calls the ‘political reservation’ of giving 10 percent quota to Muslims within the existing 42 percent Backward Classes (BC) reservation quota.

State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao declared that this move is deceiving the BCs and the BJP will expose this strategy during the upcoming local body elections in Telangana.

BJP’s Opposition to Religious Quotas

Ramchander Rao, while addressing the State-level workshop for local body polls, made it clear that the BJP has always opposed religious quotas.

He said that inserting Muslim reservation into the BC quota was an ‘anti-BC’ step that would harm the rights of other Backward Class communities.

Key points of his address included:

  • The Congress government is misleading BCs by reducing their effective share of reservations.

  • This decision is a political gimmick designed to appease a particular vote bank.

  • BJP will campaign statewide to make BC communities aware of this alleged deception.

Rao argued that religion-based quotas go against the spirit of the Constitution, which allows reservations only on social and educational backwardness—not religious identity alone.

Preparing for Local Body Elections

During the workshop attended by Union Minister for Coal & Mines G. Kishan Reddy, MP D.K. Aruna, and other senior leaders, Ramchander Rao laid out the BJP’s election strategy.

He said the party is in a strong position across Telangana and cited the enthusiastic welcome he received during his first visit to Nalgonda district after becoming State president.

Key electoral goals include:

  • Mobilising party cadre and leaders at all levels.

  • Strengthening grassroots networks in villages and towns.

  • Focusing on issues important to BC voters.

  • Highlighting Congress’s alleged failures on development, governance, and social justice.

He urged all BJP workers to unite and work tirelessly to convert the party’s strong organisational position into votes at the ballot box.

Abusive-Free Politics

On his second day touring Suryapet district, Ramchander Rao shared his vision for a cleaner political culture in Telangana.

Speaking at an Intellectuals meeting in Kodad, he emphasised the need to end abusive and vulgar language in politics.

He explained:

  • Aggressiveness in campaigning does not mean using foul language or insulting rivals personally.

  • Political debates should be about issues, policies, and ideology, not personal attacks.

  • Leaders should set an example by maintaining dignity and respecting opponents, even while criticising them.

He warned:

“Aggressiveness does not mean that the leader should shred his clothes or squat on the road using abusive language against rivals.”

Youth in Politics

Ramchander Rao also called on Telangana’s youth to join politics to help purify the political atmosphere.

He argued that young leaders can:

  • Bring new ideas and fresh energy.

  • Challenge the old culture of insults and unethical campaigning.

  • Connect better with voters, especially in rural areas.

  • Build a politics based on service, accountability, and development.

He encouraged youth to embrace public life not just to win elections, but to serve society honestly.

Social Media Responsibility

During his meetings, Ramchander Rao also addressed the role of social media in today’s political discourse.

He warned that misuse of social media can:

  • Spread false or misleading information.

  • Create social animosity between communities.

  • Confuse people about real issues.

  • Damage public trust in democratic institutions.

He urged:

  • Social media platforms to fact-check content before publishing.

  • Users to verify information before sharing.

  • Political parties to maintain ethics even in digital campaigning.

  • The public to reject divisive and false propaganda.

He said:

“Social media platforms should not create ‘social animosity’ and ‘create confusion in the minds of people.’”

BJP’s Campaign Narrative

The Telangana BJP will make the Muslim quota issue a central theme in its local body election campaign.

Party leaders plan to argue that:

  • The Congress is appeasing a religious vote bank by unjustly carving out 10 percent from BC quotas.

  • This move hurts BC communities, who will see their reservation share diluted.

  • The BJP is the true champion of BC rights, promising to protect their reservations.

They will also focus on:

  • Congress’s alleged failures in governance.

  • Corruption scandals under the Congress-led administration.

  • Law-and-order issues, unemployment, and rural distress.

BJP’s Strategy and Strength

Telangana BJP leaders believe they have a strong chance in local polls.

Ramchander Rao cited growing grassroots support, especially after his outreach in Nalgonda district.

He said:

  • There is enthusiasm among BJP cadre and ordinary voters.

  • Voters are frustrated with Congress rule.

  • BC communities, which are politically crucial, can be mobilised if they understand the real impact of the quota policy.

He asked party workers to:

  • Campaign tirelessly in villages and towns.

  • Educate voters about the BC quota issue.

  • Counter false propaganda from Congress.

Call for Unity and Discipline

Ramchander Rao made an emotional appeal to BJP leaders and workers to unite and avoid internal divisions.

He said:

  • The party must work as one family.

  • Personal egos and rivalries should not damage the larger mission.

  • Only unity and discipline can convert public support into electoral success.

He also reminded leaders to remain humble and approachable to voters, especially in rural Telangana.

Conclusion

BJP Telangana is preparing for a high-stakes battle in the upcoming local body elections, with the 10 percent Muslim quota in BC reservations at the centre of its campaign.

Ramchander Rao and other leaders are positioning the party as the true protector of BC rights, promising to expose Congress’s vote-bank politics and fight for fairness in reservations.

At the same time, the BJP’s State leadership is pushing for a cleaner, issue-based politics, calling on youth to enter politics and social media platforms to act responsibly.

In the coming weeks, Telangana can expect a heated but crucial debate about who truly stands for the rights of BC communities—a debate that could shape the State’s political landscape for years to come.
