In a significant development for Bengaluru's healthcare sector, the Brigade Foundation, a not-for-profit trust of the Brigade Group, has officially inaugurated the St. John’s Medical College Hospital at Brigade Meadows. This state-of-the-art facility, featuring 108 beds, is the result of a strategic partnership with St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. The new hospital is situated within the Brigade Meadows development, a sprawling 60-acre residential area on Kanakapura Road, which already hosts 3000 completed and occupied apartments.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by several notable dignitaries, including Most Rev. Mar Andrews Thazhath, President-CBCI & Archbishop of Trichur; Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka; Sri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Transport & Muzrai Department, Govt. of Karnataka; Sri Sharan Prakash Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education & Skills Development, Govt. of Karnataka; and Shri S.T. Somashekar, Hon’ble MLA. The ceremony also saw the presence of Most Rev. Victor Henry Thakur, Chairman, Governing Board of St. John’s; Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bengaluru; and Most Rev. George Antonysamy, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore.

M R Jaishankar, Lifetime Trustee of Brigade Foundation and Executive Chairman of Brigade Enterprises Limited, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration. He highlighted that the initiative began during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic with the establishment of a 10-bed Health Centre. The success of this center led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in June 2022, culminating in the establishment of this comprehensive 108-bed hospital within two years. Brigade Foundation contributed the land and building, while St. John’s provided the medical equipment, staff, and doctors. This partnership ensures that residents of Brigade Meadows and the surrounding Kanakapura area have access to affordable healthcare.

Rev. Fr. Jesudoss R, Director of St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, emphasized the hospital's commitment to delivering affordable and accessible healthcare. He noted that the facility would be a symbol of service where healing meets humanity and reaffirmed St. John’s mission to deliver quality healthcare with integrity, compassion, and excellence.

The new hospital will offer a range of services, including specialties such as Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonary Medicine, and Urology. The facility will also provide essential services like laboratory and imaging diagnostics, Blood Storage, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, and Ambulance services.

In addition to the hospital at Brigade Meadows, Brigade Foundation is also progressing with the construction of another 108-bed hospital in Hardware Park, Bengaluru North, in partnership with St. John’s. This expansion reflects a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility for Bengaluru’s underserved populations.
