As the cricketing world gears up for the Champions Trophy 2025, all eyes are on the Indian team, one of the top favorites to lift the prestigious title. However, India's campaign has encountered a significant blow with the absence of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah from the squad. The bowler has been ruled out due to a recurring back injury, which has left fans and experts alike concerned about the impact on India’s bowling attack. Despite this setback, the BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, expressed confidence in India's chances, assuring that Bumrah's absence will not create any problems with the team combination. He emphasized that the squad for the Champions Trophy has been carefully selected, and the depth of India’s bench strength will fill the gap left by Bumrah.

“We have picked the best team for the Champions Trophy. And I believe we will win the trophy. India has such a big bench strength, and I don't think it (Bumrah's absence) will have any major issue with the team combination,” Saikia said, adding a note of optimism for fans.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in form, the team’s morale is high heading into the tournament. Despite a period of subpar performances, both players have recently shown signs of returning to their best. Rohit Sharma’s century and Kohli’s half-century in the series against England have given hope to Indian supporters, and Saikia pointed out that the conditions in Dubai, similar to those in India, will further suit the team’s strengths. The Indian team’s recent ODI series whitewash against England and a 4-1 win in T20Is have further elevated their spirits ahead of the Champions Trophy.

“Everything is very positive in the team (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in form); see the England series; the results are in front of you. The conditions will be more or less the same in Dubai, like the Indian conditions. India came out in such a good manner (against England) with a series whitewash in ODIs and a 4-1 win in T20Is. The morale and spirit of the team is at the highest level,” Saikia added.

With their strong squad, confidence in key players, and a winning momentum from recent series, India will be looking to carry their positive energy into the Champions Trophy and prove that even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, they remain a formidable force in world cricket. Fans will be hoping to witness another glorious triumph as India aims for the Champions Trophy title in 2025.
