The highly anticipated Char Dham Yatra 2025 is all set to begin on April 30, ushering lakhs of devotees into the spiritual heart of Uttarakhand. In preparation for the massive pilgrimage, offline registration counters have been set up in Haridwar, starting today, offering pilgrims an accessible and smooth registration experience.

District Tourism Officer Sushil Nautiyal announced that 20 counters have been established across Haridwar to facilitate offline registration. Each day, up to 1,000 pilgrims can register through these counters, which have been thoughtfully equipped to assist senior citizens, persons with disabilities (divyangs), and foreign nationals. Nautiyal highlighted that the registration process is completely free, aiming to streamline pilgrim management and enhance the overall yatra experience.

The sacred Char Dham Yatra consists of visiting four holy shrines nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas:

  • Yamunotri

  • Gangotri

  • Kedarnath

  • Badrinath

The official opening dates for the temples are:

  • Yamunotri: April 30, 2025

  • Gangotri: April 30, 2025

  • Kedarnath: May 2, 2025

  • Badrinath: May 4, 2025

Authorities have launched a series of measures to ensure a safe, organized, and seamless pilgrimage. These include:

  • Parking arrangements at strategic locations

  • Slot management to avoid overcrowding

  • Real-time updates for pilgrims regarding weather, traffic, and temple access

In addition to offline services, online registration continues to be available via:

  • The Uttarakhand Tourism Care website

  • The Tourism Care mobile app

  • WhatsApp registration by sending “Yatra” to +91 8394833833

It is important to note that Aadhar Card details are mandatory for both online and offline registrations to ensure transparency and security.

The Char Dham temples, revered as some of the holiest sites in Hinduism, draw millions every year seeking spiritual liberation (moksha). Yamunotri is the source of the sacred Yamuna river, Gangotri marks the origin of the holy Ganga, Kedarnath houses one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, and Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Given the expected surge in pilgrim numbers and the region’s challenging mountainous terrain, authorities are urging pilgrims to complete their registrations promptly. Completing the registration not only helps avoid last-minute rushes but also ensures effective crowd management, emergency services, and better facilities for all visitors.

The Uttarakhand Government has been working proactively to improve infrastructure at each of the dham sites, including upgrading roads, increasing health facilities, installing CCTVs for security, and setting up help desks for tourist assistance.

In light of previous years’ experiences, special attention is being paid to health check-ups, weather advisories, and emergency evacuation plans. All pilgrims are advised to undergo necessary health screenings before commencing the yatra, especially given the high-altitude conditions.

Meanwhile, the local administration in Haridwar has ensured that the registration counters are easily accessible from major transit points like railway stations and bus terminals. Volunteers have also been deployed to guide pilgrims through the registration process, distribute information booklets, and assist with lodging details.

As the Char Dham Yatra 2025 draws near, excitement and devotion are palpable among devotees across the country. The government’s streamlined offline and online registration efforts reflect a commitment to making the pilgrimage a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for all.

Pilgrims are encouraged to carry necessary items like:

  • Warm clothing (due to the cold weather at high altitudes)

  • Medical kits

  • Valid ID proof (Aadhar mandatory)

  • Registered travel passes

They should also stay updated on travel advisories issued by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) and the local administration.

The Char Dham Yatra not only serves as a spiritual journey but also acts as a symbol of India's rich cultural and religious heritage, offering breathtaking natural beauty combined with profound devotion.

As the sacred portals prepare to open, the collective hope is that the Char Dham Yatra 2025 will proceed safely, smoothly, and with divine blessings for all pilgrims.
