Choice Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. (CCSPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Choice International Ltd, has successfully secured a major mandate from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) for developing a 45 MW (AC) solar power plant in the state. This significant project comes under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY 2.0), which is a critical part of Component C of the PM-KUSUM scheme aimed at feeder-level solarisation across India.
Strategic Role of CCSPL in the Project
Choice will serve as the strategic consulting partner, taking charge of project structuring, compliance management, and implementation supervision across 18 substations in Maharashtra. Their responsibilities include overseeing the installation of associated 11kV and 22kV lines, as well as conducting testing and commissioning activities to ensure smooth and efficient energy distribution.
This initiative is governed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) framework that supports decentralized solar generation for agricultural feeders, ultimately benefiting the state's rural energy landscape.
Boost to Renewable Energy and Clean Power Goals
The project reflects Choice’s growing leadership in the green energy consulting space. With India rapidly accelerating towards sustainable energy adoption, CCSPL’s involvement reaffirms its commitment to renewable energy and infrastructure solutions that deliver long-term value to both the environment and society.
Arun Poddar, CEO of Choice International Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm stating, “This project underscores our unwavering commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development. We are proud to contribute to Maharashtra’s clean energy goals and play an active role in India’s transition to a greener future.”
Revenue and Impact on Rural Communities
The 45MW solar power initiative is projected to generate revenue worth ₹700 Crores. More importantly, it aims to create long-term value for rural communities by enhancing electricity access, ensuring energy security for agricultural operations, and reducing dependency on traditional energy sources.
The project also marks a milestone for CCSPL, highlighting its ability to drive high-impact sustainable infrastructure projects and meet regulatory, logistical, and technical requirements with excellence.
Alignment with National Renewable Energy Schemes
The project aligns closely with the central government's PM-KUSUM scheme, especially Component C, which promotes feeder-level solarisation to reduce discom losses and promote clean energy usage in agriculture. MSKVY 2.0, the Maharashtra state initiative under which this project falls, aims to implement sustainable energy across the state’s farming sector using distributed solar resources.
Conclusion
With this mandate, Choice Consultancy Services has positioned itself as a front-runner in solar consultancy and project management, contributing to India’s goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030. The project is not only a step forward for Maharashtra’s clean energy goals but also a testament to Choice’s execution capability in large-scale renewable infrastructure projects.
As India intensifies its focus on green and decentralized energy solutions, such partnerships between state distribution companies and private consultants like Choice will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable power in India.
