The Delhi government has announced that its proposal to provide free bus travel for transgender persons is currently awaiting Cabinet approval. The initiative aims to enhance accessibility and promote welfare for the transgender community by facilitating cost-free public transport across Delhi.

Earlier, a contempt plea had been filed, urging the government to implement the scheme promptly. The Delhi High Court (HC) recently disposed of this plea, indicating that the government is taking the necessary steps for approval. However, the HC clarified that the petitioner may revive the case in the event of further delays or if the Cabinet does not approve the proposal within a reasonable timeframe.
