Delhi Metro commuters on the Red Line faced delays on Thursday morning, as services between Shahdara and Seelampur were affected. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed the disruption via an official announcement, stating that normal services were operating on all other metro lines.

DMRC Announcement on Red Line Delay

The DMRC issued an official statement, notifying commuters:

"Red Line Update: Delay in services from Shahdara to Seelampur. Normal service on all other lines."

While the exact cause of the delay was not immediately specified, metro authorities are working on restoring normal operations as soon as possible. Commuters traveling on the Red Line have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes if necessary.

Delhi Metro Timings for Holi 2025

In light of Holi celebrations, the Delhi Metro will not operate till 2:30 PM on March 14, 2025 (Friday). The DMRC announced that:

• All metro services, including the Airport Express Line, will begin at 2:30 PM from terminal stations.
• After 2:30 PM, services will continue as per the normal schedule.

This adjustment is made every year during Holi to ensure smooth operations and passenger safety amid the high-spirited festivities.

Golden Line Phase 4: Tunneling Work Update

In a major infrastructure development, the DMRC announced the completion of tunneling work for Phase 4 of the Golden Line project, which is a part of the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.

• The 91-metre-long tunnel boring machine (TBM) successfully completed a 1,550-metre-long excavation at the Vasant Kunj station site.
• Two parallel circular tunnels are being constructed for up and down movement on this corridor.
• The second tunnel’s excavation is expected to conclude by June 2025.

This new metro extension is set to improve connectivity between South Delhi and the airport, easing travel for thousands of daily commuters.

Metro passengers are advised to check real-time updates on DMRC’s official social media channels before planning their travel. Authorities are working to resolve the Red Line delays, and normal operations are expected to resume soon.
