In a major immigration crackdown, Delhi Police arrested over 20 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in the national capital. The arrests were made during a coordinated police operation in the South and South-East districts of Delhi, as part of a broader initiative to identify and deport undocumented foreign nationals.

Illegal Immigration and Raids in Delhi

According to officials, the arrested individuals had entered India without valid documents and were staying unlawfully in different parts of the city. The police also recovered suspicious documents from their possession, which are being examined for potential links to illegal immigration networks.

The arrests follow an earlier operation on March 11, when Delhi Police detained three unauthorized Bangladeshi immigrants who had illegally re-entered India after previous deportation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma confirmed that this was part of a special drive ordered by the Delhi Commissioner of Police to bolster security and curb illegal activities linked to unauthorized immigration.

On March 10, based on a tip-off, police conducted raids in multiple locations, including:

• Baba Haridas Colony
• Sultan Puri
• Beniwal Loha Mandi
• Indra Jheel
• Hanuman Mandir Kamruddin Nagar

Foreigners Bill 2025 and Government Action

This operation comes just a day after the Union Home Minister of State, Nityanand Rai, introduced the Immigration and Foreigners Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. The bill aims to:

• Strengthen India’s immigration laws, ensuring strict entry and exit regulations.
• Empower the central government to regulate the visa, registration, and deportation process.
• Crack down on illegal immigration to enhance national security.

Delhi Police are investigating the backgrounds of the arrested individuals to determine:
