The Neb Sarai triple murder case that shocked Delhi has reached a conclusion as the Delhi Police uncovered the chilling truth behind the deaths of Rajesh Kumar (51), Komal (46), and their daughter Kavita (23). The perpetrator, Arjun, their 20-year-old son, confessed to the murders following sustained interrogation.
The incident occurred on December 4, coinciding with Rajesh and Komal’s wedding anniversary. Arjun, a Delhi University student, meticulously planned the heinous act over a property inheritance dispute. Enraged by his father’s decision to leave their property to his elder sister Kavita, Arjun chose this day to execute his plan.
Chilling Confession:
Arjun initially alerted the police and relatives, claiming he discovered the bodies after returning from his morning walk. He provided several conflicting accounts during the investigation. However, under intense questioning, he confessed to the murders, revealing deep-seated resentment towards his father.
According to the police, Arjun was frustrated with his strained relationship with his father, who frequently berated him for academic underperformance and household responsibilities. Learning about the inheritance decision pushed him over the edge.
Pre-Meditated Plan:
On the night of December 3, Arjun waited until his parents and sister were asleep. He slashed their throats, ensuring no one could resist or escape. To establish an alibi, he left the house early in the morning, claiming to go for a walk. He then returned to ‘discover’ the murders and informed the authorities.
Evidence and Investigation:
Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) SK Jain stated that there were no signs of forced entry, ruling out robbery as a motive. Additionally, CCTV footage from the area corroborated Arjun’s timeline but exposed inconsistencies in his statements.
Arjun, a former state-level boxer, had a privileged upbringing, attending a prominent school in Dhaula Kuan. Despite his accolades, his personal life was riddled with tension and resentment towards his family.
Crime Shocks the Capital:
The gruesome nature of the crime has left the nation stunned, raising questions about mental health awareness, familial disputes, and youth frustrations. Arjun’s case underscores the importance of addressing property-related disputes through legal and mediatory channels to prevent such tragic outcomes.
