In a significant display of administrative preparedness and community cooperation, Eid-al-Adha celebrations in several districts across Uttar Pradesh, including Sambhal, Chandausi, Narauli, Aligarh, Firozabad, and Meerut, were observed peacefully under tight security measures on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

The state government, led by law enforcement and civil administration, deployed a three-tier security system in sensitive areas to ensure peaceful observance of one of Islam’s most sacred festivals—Eid-al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.

Three-Tier Security Implementation in Sambhal

In Sambhal, District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya confirmed that a three-layered security apparatus was operational. This setup included:

• Sector Magistrates and General Magistrates

• On-ground police forces

• Regular flag marches and patrols

The district administration had conducted prior peace committee meetings with community leaders including Maulanas, Muftis, Mutawallis, and representatives from various mosques, ensuring voluntary agreement to refrain from public sacrifices and to carry out the ritual only at designated traditional places.

Pensiya appreciated the positive response and unified approach shown by all sections of society, noting, “Everyone is cooperating a lot, there is no problem of any kind.” He also confirmed that arrangements were made for waste disposal and cleanliness, with a three-day continuous monitoring period until 3 PM each day to maintain sanitation and order.

Peaceful Namaz Offerings Inside Eidgahs

Circle Officer Anuj Chaudhary from Chandausi highlighted another notable aspect of this year’s celebrations: Namaz (prayer) was conducted entirely within Eidgahs, with no spillover onto roads or public pathways.

“There are two Eidgahs, one in Chandausi and another in Narauli,” said Chaudhary. “At both places, Namaz was offered within the premises. No Namaz was offered on roads.” The approach, aligned with administrative appeals, ensured a disciplined and uninterrupted observance of rituals.

In the early hours of Saturday, the faithful in Chandausi and Sambhal were seen offering their Eid-al-Adha prayers with devotion and reverence, marking the start of a spiritually significant day.

Security Heightened in Other UP Districts

Apart from Sambhal, other districts in Uttar Pradesh were also placed on high alert, including:

• Aligarh

• Firozabad

• Meerut

In these districts, police presence was strengthened, and special instructions were issued to prevent gatherings in public places or any form of disruption to law and order.

Firozabad: Full District Alert

Authorities in Firozabad issued a district-wide alert, deploying personnel to sensitive sites such as Eidgahs, mosques, and public squares. Patrolling was intensified, and vigilance was maintained throughout the day.

The police appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity and adhere strictly to guidelines on where animal sacrifices could be conducted.

Meerut: Coordinated Civic and Security Response

In Meerut, Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada reported extensive preparations, including:

• Meetings with peace committees

• Coordination with municipal bodies

• Focus on cleanliness, traffic control, and public communication

The administration ensured that Eid-al-Adha celebrations were conducted without any inconvenience to the general public and emphasized inter-departmental cooperation as a major factor behind the peaceful outcome.

Community Participation and Responsibility

One of the most commendable features of the celebrations this year was the level of civic maturity shown by the communities involved. There was unanimous agreement from religious and civil leaders to:

• Avoid animal sacrifices in public places

• Respect civic boundaries and laws

• Celebrate within traditional and pre-approved areas

These agreements stemmed from pre-festival coordination between the administration and community influencers, which led to smooth execution of religious rituals without friction.
