What's covered under the Article:

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) continues to expand its services to provide comprehensive healthcare and social security benefits to its beneficiaries. With a vast network of 165 ESI hospitals and 1,590 dispensaries across India, ESIC plays a crucial role in delivering medical care to Insured Persons (IPs) and their families. In its efforts to reach more beneficiaries, ESIC has approved the construction of 97 new hospitals over the past decade, significantly enhancing its accessibility across the nation.
Expanded Healthcare Access
In addition to the new hospitals, ESIC has also formed tie-up arrangements with both public and private hospitals to ensure that cashless inpatient services are available even in areas where ESI facilities are not present. This collaboration helps in extending healthcare benefits to workers and their families, even when they are outside the direct reach of ESI hospitals. Moreover, ESIC has collaborated with Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY), facilitating access to secondary and tertiary care for its beneficiaries through PMJAY-empanelled hospitals in regions where ESI services are unavailable.
Enhanced Benefits for Insured Persons
To further support its beneficiaries, ESIC has introduced increased rates for Permanent Disablement Benefit (PDB) and Dependents' Benefits (DB). These enhancements are part of the corporation's continued effort to ensure that those covered under the ESI scheme are adequately supported in the event of a disability or the loss of a breadwinner.
Medical Care for Retired Beneficiaries
A new medical care scheme has been introduced specifically for retired beneficiaries, who may have contributed to ESIC but are no longer covered under the scheme post-retirement. This initiative includes Super Specialty Treatment (SST) for retirees, ensuring they continue to receive critical healthcare even after their working years are over.
Technological Advancements
In line with its efforts to modernize and improve service delivery, ESIC has launched several online platforms. One of the key features is an online platform for updating the details of IPs and their families, simplifying the process of maintaining up-to-date records. Additionally, Aadhaar-based authentication has been voluntarily adopted, enabling more seamless access to social security benefits, including medical and cash benefits. These digital upgrades enhance the ease of accessing services and ensure timely delivery of benefits.
Furthermore, to improve the claim submission process, ESIC has introduced an online portal for submitting cash benefit claims under the ESI scheme. This digitalization aims to streamline the process, reduce processing time, and increase the transparency and efficiency of service delivery for beneficiaries.
Commitment to Beneficiaries
The recent expansions and service upgrades by ESIC demonstrate its ongoing commitment to enhancing the welfare of insured persons and their families. By increasing the scope of healthcare services and introducing beneficial reforms, ESIC aims to ensure better access to medical care and social security benefits for the workers and their families across India.
