Elaborate security arrangements are in place for the upcoming India-Bangladesh Test match.

Police are coordinating with central and state agencies to ensure a safe environment for the event.

An FIR has been filed against 20 members of the Akhilesh Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha for allegedly organizing a havan (a Hindu ritual involving fire) that obstructed the road outside the International Green Park stadium in Kanpur. This protest was aimed at voicing concerns over alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. The timing of this protest, just days before the scheduled India-Bangladesh second Test match on September 27, has led to heightened security measures around the event.

ACP Harish Chander announced that a comprehensive and "fool-proof" security plan has been developed to ensure the safety of both the Indian and Bangladeshi cricket teams during the match. Traffic diversions have been implemented to accommodate the security protocols, thereby minimizing disruptions in the area.

To ensure that security is at the highest level, the Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) has requested an adequate deployment of police personnel, including senior officials, to oversee the match day. Chander stated, “We are reviewing the security arrangements to leave no stone unturned and are confident of getting an adequate police force to meet the requirements.”

In light of potential threats, local authorities are actively coordinating with both central and state agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), to gather intelligence and share information related to any possible security threats.

The Green Park stadium and Hotel Landmark, key locations for the event, have been meticulously divided into various sectors, zones, and sub-zones. The security reigns for these areas have been assigned to officials of the DCP, additional DCP, and ACP ranks. DCP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh has been appointed as the nodal officer responsible for overseeing the entire event.

The individuals named in the FIR include Rakesh Mishra, Vikas, Atul, Jaydeep, Vikas Gupta, Prashant Dheer, Ajay Rathore, Ashish, Brajesh, and approximately ten others who remain unidentified. The charges filed against them fall under various sections, including BNS sections of 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 191(2) (rioting), 223 (disobeying an order promulgated by a public servant), and 285 (obstruction or injury to any person in any public way).

As the date of the match approaches, the focus remains on ensuring a secure environment for players and spectators alike, underlining the importance of maintaining public order during significant events. Authorities are keen on preventing any disruption that might affect the integrity of the match and the safety of all involved.
