India is all set to revolutionize its railway services with the launch of the Vande Bharat sleeper train, marking a new era in train travel. The first phase of these trains is expected to roll out this month, with 10 Vande Bharat sleeper trains already under production for long and medium-distance journeys. The first prototype has been successfully manufactured and has undergone extensive field trials. The Indian Railways has awarded the manufacturing of 200 sleeper Rakes to its technology partners, with the timeline for the train rollout contingent on the successful completion of these trials.

In addition to the Vande Bharat sleeper trains, the Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated that as of December 2024, 136 Vande Bharat train services with Chair Car coaches are already operating across the Indian Railways network. The longest Vande Bharat service currently operates between Delhi and Banaras, covering a distance of 771 km. This marks the beginning of a larger plan to introduce new Vande Bharat services across the country, enhancing both long-distance and medium-distance travel.
