John Cockerill India appoints Frederic Martin as Managing Director, effective August 1, 2025
Mumbai, August 1, 2025 – John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL), a leading provider of industrial solutions and cold rolling mill technology, has announced the appointment of Frederic Martin as its Managing Director effective August 1, 2025. This strategic move was approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting held on July 29, 2025, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, and is subject to necessary shareholder and government approvals.
Frederic Martin, known as Fred, succeeds Michael Kotas, who led the company for two years. Kotas will continue to support the transition process through the end of August before taking up a new role within the John Cockerill Group in Europe.
Fred Martin brings to the role over 35 years of international experience in the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sectors. His expertise spans project management, steel processing engineering, business planning, contract negotiation, and operational excellence. He is also recognized for his leadership in international assignments, having worked extensively across China, the USA, Belgium, and now India.
He holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ENSAM (École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers) and has been with John Cockerill Group since 2005. During his tenure, he has held key positions such as General Manager of CMI Thermline, Vice President Operations, General Manager for the China market, and Vice President for the Metals Business Line of the Industry Sector.
As MD of JCIL, Fred will continue to hold his global role as Vice President Metals at John Cockerill Industry, giving the Indian unit enhanced access to global strategy and resources. His appointment is expected to accelerate JCIL’s growth strategy and further strengthen its position in India’s expanding industrial infrastructure landscape.
