The Mansa Devi Temple, perched at a height of over 500 feet in the Shivalik hills, is one of the five sacred Panch Tirthas of Haridwar. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami immediately responded by visiting the district hospital in Haridwar, where most injured victims were admitted. He assured the public that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of spreading panic. CM Dhami also announced ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured person. Authorities have assured all necessary support to the families and survivors.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), describing the incident as “deeply painful” and extended condolences to the grieving families. She also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted to the incident, tweeting: “Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected.”
