In the 2015 Bihar Assembly Elections, Ramsewak Singh of JDU won the Hathua seat by defeating Mahachandra Pd Singh of HAM. Ramsewak Singh secured 57,917 votes (36.52%), winning by a margin of 22,984 votes (14.75%). Independent candidate Rajesh Kumar Singh stood third with 32,959 votes (20.78%).
The 2010 Bihar Assembly Elections were also won by Ramsewak Singh of JDU, giving him back-to-back victories before he lost to RJD in 2020.
