According to police reports, a call was received at around 8:12 pm on Wednesday evening reporting the drowning. Police responded promptly and found that Tanuja and Priyansh had fallen into a semi-constructed, waterlogged drain while en route to the weekly Budh Bazaar in Ghazipur Police Station area. The drain had been filled with water due to the heavy rains, leading to the unfortunate accident.
