HFCL Limited has recently achieved a significant milestone by completing one of the world's largest Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) deployments for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). This project, featuring advanced Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture, represents a major upgrade to BSNL's network infrastructure, aimed at enhancing both capacity and efficiency.
The ₹390 crore project, which includes both Operations and Maintenance (O&M), marks a crucial step in BSNL’s efforts to modernize its network and improve service delivery. The deployment was executed across India and is intended to support Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services and enterprise applications, significantly boosting network efficiency and reliability.
CUPS architecture provides a modern approach to managing network resources by separating control plane functions from user plane functions. This separation allows for more flexible and scalable network management, addressing the increasing demands for high-speed data services. The new infrastructure is designed to improve scalability, service quality, and overall network performance.
In addition to enhancing BSNL's existing network, this project will play a pivotal role in the BharatNet initiative, which aims to extend internet connectivity to 1.5 Lac Gram Panchayats and support the expansion under the BharatNet Phase-III project. This deployment will serve as the Internet Gateway for these initiatives, providing essential connectivity for both rural and urban areas.
