What’s covered under the article:

  1. An IED explosion near the LoC in Akhnoor sector killed two Army personnel, including a captain, and injured another soldier.
  2. This marks the third cross-border terror-related incident in Jammu in four days, raising concerns over increased terrorist activity.
  3. The Army has launched search operations, with White Knight Corps confirming the incident and paying tribute to the fallen soldiers.

On February 11, a powerful IED blast took place near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the tragic deaths of two Indian Army personnel, including a captain. A third soldier was injured in the attack, officials confirmed.

Details of the Blast and Casualties

The explosion occurred at approximately 3:50 pm in the Bhattal area of Jammu's Akhnoor sector while the troops were on patrol duty near a forward post. The IED, believed to have been planted by terrorists, exploded during the patrol, leading to the fatal injuries of two soldiers, including the captain.

The injured soldier was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition was later reported as stable, and he was said to be "out of danger."

Response by the White Knight Corps

Following the explosion, the White Knight Corps swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to identify the perpetrators. In an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, calling them "gallant" and acknowledged their supreme sacrifice.

The post further noted that security forces are dominating the area and search operations are ongoing to track down those responsible for the blast.

Terrorist Activity Along the LoC

This attack marks the third instance of cross-border terrorism in the Jammu region within the span of just four days. On February 10, a soldier was shot while manning a forward post in Rajouri district, and on February 8, an Army patrol was targeted by terrorists firing from across the LoC in the Keri sector of Rajouri.

In both of these incidents, the Indian Army retaliated and subsequently reinforced security along the LoC to prevent further infiltration attempts.

Army’s Vigil and Operational Updates

Earlier, on February 5, a land mine explosion along the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district resulted in casualties among terrorists attempting to infiltrate into India. While no official confirmation of terrorist casualties was released, the explosion underscored the continued hostile activities along the LoC.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, along with other senior officers, recently visited the forward areas of Rajouri for operational updates and to assess the ongoing security situation.

In a statement shared by the Indian Army, the GOC complimented the troops for their vigilance and operational focus while urging them to remain prepared for any contingencies that may arise due to cross-border terrorism.

The Increasing Security Threat in Jammu and Kashmir

These incidents reflect the growing terrorist activity in the region, particularly along the LoC. With infiltration attempts continuing and a steady increase in cross-border attacks, the Indian Army remains on high alert. The security forces continue to monitor the situation closely, with the ongoing search operations in Akhnoor and other sensitive areas.
