According to the IMD weather bulletin released on Friday, parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya will experience light to moderate rainfall over the next few days. The weather changes are attributed to active western disturbances and moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Rainfall Predictions for Different Regions

The IMD has categorized the rainfall intensity based on different regions:

  • North India: Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and a slight drop in temperatures.
  • East & Northeast India: States such as West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya will see rainfall activity over the next few days, with chances of thunderstorms and lightning.

  • Southern India: No major rainfall activity has been predicted in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, or Telangana during this period.

Temperature Variations Across India

Apart from rainfall predictions, the IMD has also reported significant temperature variations across the country.

  • A drop of 1-4°C has been observed in parts of West India, including Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
  • Day temperatures have fluctuated, rising by 1-3°C in over 10 states, while a similar drop was recorded in West Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

  • Farmers to take precautions against potential crop damage due to hailstorms and heavy rain.

  • Residents in rain-affected states to stay updated on local forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during extreme weather conditions.
