India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) witnessed a sequential hiring growth of 5-7% during the July-September 2025 quarter, according to the Quess Corp India GCC Tech Talent Landscape: Q2 FY26 report. The growth is largely driven by roles in artificial intelligence (AI) and data, platform engineering, cloud, FinOps, and cybersecurity, reflecting enterprises’ increasing focus on technology-driven and revenue-critical functions.
Sectors such as BFSI, manufacturing, automotive, energy, technology, and hardware continue to be the key pillars supporting GCC growth. Organizations are prioritizing hiring for platform engineering, data management, and FinOps roles, which directly impact performance, cost optimization, and operational resilience. The report indicates an 8% uplift in AI and data science roles, while FinOps-driven cloud hiring rose 6%, highlighting enterprises’ focus on improving efficiency and scaling cloud operations effectively.
Tier II and III cities like Coimbatore, Kochi, and Ahmedabad are emerging as cost-efficient delivery bases, recording 8-9% quarter-on-quarter growth, making them attractive locations for GCC expansion. Southern metros remain dominant in hiring, with Bengaluru leading at 26% share, followed by Hyderabad (22%), Pune (15%), and Chennai (12%). Bengaluru shows strong traction in advanced AI and FinOps roles, whereas Hyderabad is gaining momentum in multi-cloud integration and data reliability. Pune and Chennai are also seeing steady growth in automotive software, platform migration, and intelligent quality assurance roles.
Despite robust hiring, the report highlights critical skill shortages in several key areas, which are prolonging hiring cycles, especially for mid-senior roles outside Tier I cities. The shortages include AI and data (41%), platform engineering (39%), cloud and infrastructure (25%), and cybersecurity (18%), indicating a persistent gap between talent demand and availability.
India currently hosts around 1,850 active GCCs, employing over 2 million professionals, with the ecosystem projected to reach 2.5 million employees by 2030. This growth trajectory positions India as a key global hub for GCC operations, leveraging its skilled workforce, cost advantages, and expanding regional talent pools.
