On the second day of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH-2024), held in New Delhi, a significant development emerged with India's announcement of an exclusive partnership with the European Union. This collaboration, set to commence in November 2024, aims to align with EU green regulations and enhance India’s exports of green hydrogen, positioning the country as a key player in the global hydrogen market.

The conference featured a crucial agreement with the signing of a Letter of Intent between Chane Terminal from the Netherlands and ACME Cleantech from India. This agreement focuses on the development of ammonia import terminals, which is expected to support the infrastructure needed for green hydrogen initiatives.

Sessions at the conference provided valuable insights from international representatives including the EU, Australia, and the Netherlands. Discussions centered around the role of green hydrogen in global decarbonization efforts. Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Power, emphasized the EU's efforts to reform its Emission Trading System to promote hydrogen as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. The conference highlighted the need for international collaboration to overcome challenges in technology advancement, regulatory frameworks, and renewable energy access.

A dedicated session engaged the youth, focusing on their pivotal role in climate action and sustainability. Notable speaker Ms. Saina Nehwal inspired attendees to advocate for a sustainable future. The youth panel emphasized green hydrogen's significance in achieving India’s renewable energy goals by 2030. The GH2Thon Hackathon showcased innovative solutions, with Mr. Nandlal Gupta from IIT Bombay emerging as the winner for his contributions to hydrogen technology.

The event saw the participation of over 2000 delegates, including industry experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders, fostering international collaboration through various roundtables. The ICGH-2024 conference is a critical platform for advancing green hydrogen technologies and establishing strategic partnerships for a sustainable future, supported by multiple government ministries and organizations.
