India Demands Action Over Deportee Mistreatment
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized on Friday that India will continue to raise issues of mistreatment faced by its nationals during deportation. He reiterated that all cases brought to India's attention are being addressed with US authorities.
Misri disclosed that the US has informed India about 487 individuals presumed to be Indian nationals who have received removal orders. However, detailed records have only been shared for 298 individuals so far.
"On the issue of mistreatment, it is a valid concern, and we continue to emphasize to US authorities that there should be no mistreatment of deportees," Misri stated.
While there is no record of India protesting the deportation of shackled individuals in 2012, the government remains firm in addressing human rights violations against deported Indian immigrants.
PM Modi’s Upcoming US Visit Strengthens India-US Ties
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also provided updates on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States. According to Misri, the invitation extended to PM Modi within three weeks of the new US administration taking office highlights the strategic importance of India-US relations.
The India-US partnership enjoys strong bipartisan support, ensuring that cooperation between the two nations remains a priority despite global geopolitical shifts.
PM Modi to Co-Chair AI Summit in France with Macron

- Jointly inaugurate the newest Indian Consulate General in Marseille.
- Visit Kadash, the site of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).
French President Macron will also host a dinner in honor of PM Modi, strengthening India-France diplomatic ties.
AI Summit to Witness Global Participation
The AI Summit in France is set to witness key global stakeholders, including:
- US Vice President JD Vance
- China’s Vice Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang
- Other major international representatives focused on artificial intelligence innovations.
Strengthening Global Diplomatic Ties
PM Modi’s visits to the US and France are set to further enhance India’s global positioning in diplomacy, technology, and trade. India’s firm stance on human rights violations, coupled with its commitment to global AI advancements, demonstrates its strategic priorities on the world stage.
