However, the optimism in the export market is tempered by concerns over smuggling activities. Indian exporters remain cautiously optimistic, mindful of the illicit trade practices that could undermine legitimate export efforts. Balancing profitability with ethical trade practices is imperative to ensure the sustainability of India's onion export industry.

Global Competition and Future Prospects.

India's traditional dominance in the global onion market, particularly between January and March, faces challenges this year. Between April 1, 2023, and August 4, 2023, India exported a substantial 975,000 tonnes of onions.
