The government has also raised the alert level across all border states, and Indian Air Force (IAF) units are on full operational readiness. Security agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), are coordinating efforts to monitor further escalations.

The shootdown of the JF-17 marks the first major aerial combat engagement since the 2019 Balakot strikes and the subsequent downing of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s MiG-21. The current escalation could have long-term implications for regional stability and diplomatic relations.

Experts believe that Pakistan’s increasing reliance on drones and proxy warfare has prompted India to adopt a more aggressive pre-emptive defence strategy. This includes rapid deployment of anti-air systems, increased patrolling, and enhanced satellite-based surveillance over border areas.
