The 9th edition of the Global Technology Summit (GTS 2025) is being held in New Delhi from April 10 to 12, making India the focal point of global conversations around emerging technologies and digital governance. Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in collaboration with Carnegie India, the Global Technology Summit is recognised as India’s premier platform for geo-technology dialogue. This year’s summit is built around the theme “Sambhavna”, a Hindi word which translates to “possibilities”, symbolising the vast potential of technology in transforming governance, development, and international cooperation.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will inaugurate the event and deliver the keynote address, marking the beginning of an intellectually packed three-day conference. The summit is designed to convene global leaders from governments, industries, academia, and civil society, all converging to discuss, evaluate, and influence technology policy and innovation frameworks that define the future.
The Global Technology Summit 2025 in Delhi will see participation from over 150 high-profile speakers representing more than 40 countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, UAE, Nigeria, Netherlands, and the European Union. This diverse representation ensures that the conversations are multi-dimensional, reflecting the global nature of technological challenges and opportunities.
The agenda of GTS 2025 is robust, with more than 40 public sessions that will include ministerial-level conversations, strategic dialogues, keynote speeches, and expert panel discussions. These sessions are tailored to cover an expansive array of issues such as:
-
AI governance and ethical frameworks for responsible artificial intelligence
-
Digital public infrastructure and the digital divide
-
Data protection, privacy laws, and regulatory frameworks
-
Cybersecurity and international cyber cooperation
-
Space security and the increasing importance of secure satellite and communication technology
-
Cross-border tech partnerships, especially focusing on the Global South
One of the most significant aspects of Global Technology Summit 2025 is its commitment to inclusive participation, especially from India’s youth. Through the GTS Young Ambassadors programme, students and young professionals from across the country will directly engage in policy conversations related to responsible AI, digital futures, and global tech norms. This initiative reflects India’s forward-looking stance on embedding the voices of the next generation into global tech discourse.
The theme “Sambhavna” encapsulates the guiding philosophy of the summit—identifying and unlocking possibilities in every technological challenge. It emphasises how emerging technologies can be harnessed to strengthen digital governance, encourage innovation, and foster international cooperation, especially at a time when global technology governance is becoming increasingly fragmented and polarised.
Carnegie India, one of the summit’s co-organisers, plays a crucial role in enriching the intellectual content of the summit. As part of a global network of over 170 scholars, Carnegie India ensures that the event reflects the cutting-edge insights on technology and geopolitics, balancing India’s interests with the international tech ecosystem.
This year’s Global Technology Summit arrives at a pivotal moment when AI, digital transformation, and global tech policy are at the heart of geopolitical dynamics. Countries are increasingly focused on building resilient digital infrastructure, safeguarding national cyber interests, and shaping a fair, inclusive, and rules-based digital economy. Against this backdrop, the summit serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing, policy formulation, and international collaboration.
Another key element of GTS 2025 in Delhi is the emphasis on tech for development—how innovation can be made more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable, especially for developing nations. Several sessions will explore strategies to bridge the digital divide, ensure access to emerging technologies, and create a secure and open digital environment.
As India cements its position as a global digital leader, summits like these highlight the country’s proactive diplomacy and strategic partnerships in the tech domain. By hosting such a significant event, India is not only advocating its digital interests but also offering itself as a bridge between the developed and developing tech ecosystems.
The event is also expected to influence policy discussions leading up to other major international forums such as the G20 tech track, Quad cyber dialogues, and UN-based digital frameworks. With its emphasis on global cooperation, the summit reflects the sentiment that technology must be shaped by democratic values, shared innovation, and inclusive growth.
In conclusion, the Global Technology Summit 2025 stands as a landmark gathering for international technology policy discourse, making Delhi the global hub for three days of strategic conversations and collaborations. It showcases India’s leadership role in shaping digital futures while staying committed to values of openness, inclusivity, and innovation. The summit truly lives up to its theme—Sambhavna, symbolising the possibilities of tomorrow shaped by the discussions of today.
