In a significant development, Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Plc (JLR), the British subsidiary of Tata Motors, has decided to assemble its prestigious Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs in India for the first time in over 50 years. This strategic move underscores JLR's dedication to local manufacturing and its strategic intent to capitalize on the growth potential of India's luxury car segment. The decision comes alongside the inauguration of the Range Rover House, the brand's inaugural experiential center in Alibaug, Maharashtra, signaling JLR's deepening roots in the Indian market.

To cater to the local demand and optimize manufacturing efficiencies, JLR will establish a new assembly line at Tata Motors' manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. This facility is slated to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, showcasing JLR's commitment to serving the Indian market while maintaining international standards of quality and craftsmanship. The strategic shift is expected to result in a substantial reduction in prices, making these luxury vehicles more accessible to Indian consumers without compromising on their premium appeal.

Speaking on the development, Rajan Amba, Managing Director and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover India, expressed optimism about the market response to the locally assembled Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. He emphasized that this move reflects JLR's confidence in India's potential as a key market for luxury automobiles and its commitment to offering innovative and affordable solutions to Indian consumers.
