India has reiterated its demand for the early discharge of Indian nationals working in the Russian Army, particularly following the tragic death of an Indian national from Kerala. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed its deep concern over the incident, with spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal offering condolences and calling for urgent action regarding the fate of the remaining Indian nationals.

According to Jaiswal's statement, "We have learned of the unfortunate death of an Indian national from Kerala, who had apparently been recruited to serve in the Russian Army." In addition to the fatality, the MEA spokesperson confirmed that another Indian national, also from Kerala, was injured and is receiving treatment in Moscow. The ministry has expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to aid those affected by this tragic situation.

The Ministry of External Affairs is actively working on the repatriation of both the deceased and the injured individual. The statement further explained that the Embassy in Moscow is in constant contact with the families of the affected individuals, coordinating efforts for the transportation of mortal remains back to India. “Our Embassy in Moscow is in touch with the families, and all possible assistance is being rendered. We are working with the Russian authorities for early transportation of the mortal remains to India," the statement read.

In addition to the death, the Ministry has also emphasized that repatriation efforts are being extended to the injured individual, who is receiving medical treatment in Moscow. The MEA has strongly urged Russian authorities to expedite the discharge and repatriation of the injured Kerala citizen and is working with both the Russian authorities in Moscow and the Russian Embassy in New Delhi to push for this process.

The Ministry of External Affairs has also reiterated its demand for the early discharge of the remaining Indian nationals currently serving in the Russian Army. The situation has drawn the attention of India’s diplomats, who are working with both the Russian government and their counterparts in Moscow to ensure the safe return of these individuals. As per the MEA's statement, "We have also sought the early discharge and repatriation to India of the injured person. The matter has been strongly taken up with the Russian authorities in Moscow as well as with the Russian Embassy in New Delhi today."

This development marks a significant moment in India-Russia diplomatic relations, with India intensifying efforts to secure the safety and return of its nationals. The issue of foreign nationals serving in foreign armies has long been a sensitive one, and this tragic event has brought the matter to the forefront of India’s foreign policy concerns.

As efforts continue to bring back the remaining Indian nationals, the government has committed to ensuring that the rights of its citizens are protected, and their safety is a priority. The MEA has expressed its commitment to continue working with Russian authorities to address the issue promptly.
