As the joyous festival of Holi approaches, Indian Railways is set to alleviate the travel rush by launching special trains to accommodate the increased number of passengers during this festive season. The festival, which falls on March 14, 2025, marks a celebration of spring, colours, and togetherness, prompting many to head home or visit family.

14 Special Trains by South Central Railway

South Central Railway (SCR) has rolled out 14 special Holi trains, connecting major cities across India to handle the heavy festive rush. The trains will cover popular routes like Cherlapalli, Shalimar, Santragachi, Jalna, and Patna. Passengers will also have multiple stoppages at key stations such as Nalgonda, Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry, and Bhubaneswar. These trains will have 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class options to cater to diverse travel preferences.

36 More Trains for Holi and Summer

In addition to the 14 Holi special trains, Indian Railways is also operating 36 more special trains between Rajkot and Mahbubnagar to meet the increased demand for travel, covering both Holi and the upcoming summer season. These additional trains are expected to benefit lakhs of passengers, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience for those heading home to celebrate the festival.

Festival Date & Significance

Holi will be celebrated on March 14, and the day before, March 13, will mark Holika Dahan or Choti Holi, an important ritual signifying the victory of good over evil. As Holi 2025 approaches, the special trains will make it easier for people to join in the celebrations, creating lasting memories with loved ones.
