In a thrilling quarterfinal on Thursday (March 12, 2026), Elina Svitolina knocked out two-time Indian Wells champion Iga Swiatek with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory.

The Ukrainian ninth seed showcased aggressive groundstrokes and tactical variety, exposing Swiatek’s early rust, which included eight double faults and inconsistent play.

Rybakina Halts Pegula Comeback

Elena Rybakina, the Australian Open champion, survived a challenge from fifth-ranked Jessica Pegula, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7/4).

Rybakina will now meet Svitolina in the semifinals, setting up a high-stakes clash between the two top performers of the tournament.

Sabalenka and Noskova Also Progress

World number one Aryna Sabalenka stayed on track for her first Indian Wells title, defeating Canadian teen Victoria Mboko 7-6 (7/0), 6-4.

Linda Noskova, the 14th-ranked Czech, ended Australian qualifier Talia Gibson’s fairy-tale run 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, earning a semifinal clash against Sabalenka.
