Infosys, in collaboration with Tennis Australia, has introduced a series of groundbreaking generative AI innovations for Australian Open 2025, elevating the fan experience and extending the boundaries of digital interactivity in tennis. The launch of ‘Beyond Tennis’, the world’s first generative AI-powered tennis league, is one of the most exciting developments. This fan-driven, digital-first experience will allow tennis enthusiasts to engage with AI-generated virtual players, train teams, and compete in AI-crafted tournaments.
The Beyond Tennis league will feature 16 virtual players across eight teams, and its unique, year-round digital interactivity ensures that the excitement never stops. Designed to appeal to younger Gen Z audiences, this new AI initiative will engage fans in innovative ways, ensuring safety within digital environments by utilizing responsible AI.
In addition to the AI-powered league, other innovations include AI Commentary on the Infosys Match Centre, where large language models will provide insightful, byte-sized commentary during every match. Another notable feature is the VR AI Stadium at the Infosys Fan Zone in Melbourne Park, where fans can create their own virtual tennis courts inspired by various themes, from nature to 1970s retro courts.
Infosys is enhancing the tournament’s AI-driven tools by offering AI video analysis for players and coaches, including post-match reviews and pre-game analysis. Their AI Shot of the Day feature is set to drive rapid content creation for social media channels, delivering captivating moments directly to fans.
The Infosys Fan Zone remains climate-conscious, with its carbon footprint fully offset and its structures fully recyclable. The ongoing collaboration between Infosys and Tennis Australia also supports initiatives like the Future Leaders Program, which provides educational opportunities on leadership, inclusion, and technology through Infosys Springboard.
Andrew Groth, Executive Vice President - Asia Pacific at Infosys, highlighted how AI continues to shape the fan experience and improve player performance with cutting-edge generative AI technologies like the Infosys Topaz suite. Meanwhile, Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, expressed his excitement about the new AI features, emphasizing their role in transforming fan interactivity and enhancing content delivery.
