INOX India Limited (INOXCVA), a global leader in cryogenic technology solutions, has been awarded a landmark contract by Island Power Producers Limited (IPP) in The Bahamas. This contract involves the turnkey design, engineering, and supply of a Mini LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving and regasification terminal. The terminal will power IPP’s 60 MW combined cycle plant, providing a cleaner, sustainable energy source to Nassau Cruise Port and supporting regional LNG distribution.

With a storage capacity totaling 15,000 m³ LNG, the installation will include 10 double-walled vacuum-insulated cryogenic storage tanks, each with a capacity of 1,500 m³. This setup is noted as the world's largest installation of shop-built double-walled cryogenic tanks, marking a milestone for INOXCVA and reinforcing India’s industrial manufacturing capabilities on the global stage. The tanks, engineered for long-term cryogenic storage and minimal environmental impact, are set to be manufactured at INOXCVA’s Kandla facility in India.

Project Highlights

Phase Execution: The project’s execution is set in two phases. Phase 1 (five tanks and a portion of the regasification system) will be completed by February 2026. Phase 2 (the remaining five tanks) will conclude by June 2026.

Innovative LNG Solutions: In addition to enabling shore power for docked cruise ships, the terminal will feature modular capabilities, allowing LNG to be received from smaller vessels and reloaded into ISO containers. This modularity supports energy needs throughout The Bahamas, ensuring flexibility and scalability in LNG distribution and consumption.

Environmental and Strategic Impact: Moving to LNG as a primary fuel source aids in achieving The Bahamas’ carbon reduction targets by providing a low-carbon, cost-effective energy solution. The terminal sets a regional example for LNG infrastructure, especially for remote locations that can benefit from reduced carbon footprints.
