The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season has not been kind to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), despite a strong start with a win over Rajasthan Royals. "Not a great time," Cummins stated, expressing disappointment over the team's performance. "I think this was gettable, pretty good wicket. Left too many in the field and then fell well short in the end." He acknowledged that the team had to be realistic about their situation, noting that this was now their third consecutive loss, and improvements were needed in both batting and fielding. While SRH's batting strategy had been aggressive in previous matches, Cummins suggested that they might need to reconsider their approach and opt for better options in future games.

Cummins further elaborated that the team's bowling performance was not as bad as the fielding, but crucial catches were dropped, and early breakthroughs were missed. He stressed that the fielding aspect of the game had hurt them the most, which directly affected the momentum during the match. On the absence of Adam Zampa, Cummins explained that the pitch conditions were not favorable for spin bowling, which was why the team decided to go without Zampa, opting instead for more pace options.

As SRH faced their third consecutive loss, they dropped to 10th place in the standings, a sharp decline from their earlier momentum. With only a few matches left before the halfway mark of the season, it is crucial for the team to recover and build some momentum. Cummins remains hopeful but has emphasized that they need to make substantial improvements if they are to turn their campaign around.
