An Iran-linked hacking group called Handala has claimed responsibility for a major cyberattack on U.S. medical technology company Stryker, saying it successfully extracted a massive amount of data from the firm’s systems.

The group announced the attack on Wednesday, stating that the operation was carried out as retaliation for military strikes against Iran amid the ongoing geopolitical conflict involving the United States and Israel.

According to the hackers, the cyber operation targeted the healthcare technology infrastructure of the company, raising concerns about cybersecurity risks in the medical sector.

Hackers Claim 50 Terabytes of Data Stolen

In its statement, the hacking group claimed it had extracted approximately 50 terabytes of sensitive data during the cyber operation.

The group said the stolen information was no longer under the company’s control, suggesting that it could potentially be shared or leaked publicly.

“Our major cyber operation has been executed with complete success,” the group said in a statement.

Handala also claimed that the extracted data was now “in the hands of the free people of the world,” implying that the information might be distributed online.

The cyberattack targeted Stryker, a major U.S.-based medical technology company that manufactures and supplies healthcare equipment used by hospitals and medical institutions worldwide.
