The Israeli military has confirmed the death of Ahmed Fozi Wadia, a Hamas commander involved in the notorious October 7 attack on the Taasa family in the community of Netiv HaAsara. Wadia, identified as a member of a Hamas commando battalion and a paragliding unit, was killed in an airstrike on Saturday in Gaza City. This operation is part of Israel's ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which has now entered its 11th month, following the deadly attack that sparked the conflict.

The October 7 incident gained global attention when a video surfaced showing Wadia standing over two wounded children and drinking cola from their fridge. The attack led to the death of Gil Taasa, who heroically shielded his sons from a grenade explosion by jumping on it, sacrificing his life to protect his children. The video, which has been shared widely and screened for journalists, diplomats, and lawmakers worldwide, depicted the brutal aftermath of the attack, highlighting the horrors faced by civilians.

In the video, Wadia is seen entering the Taasa family home after launching the attack. After the tragic death of Gil Taasa, Wadia, in a chilling display of callousness, drank from a bottle of cola taken from the family’s fridge while standing over the injured boys. This image became symbolic of the brutality of the attack and the ruthlessness of the militants involved.

The Israeli airstrike that killed Wadia targeted a compound in Gaza City where Hamas militants were operating. According to the Israeli military, the strike eliminated eight militants, including Wadia, delivering a significant blow to the Hamas leadership. The compound was located near the Al-Ahli hospital, but the military clarified that the hospital itself was not hit. However, the Health Ministry in Gaza reported that a strike on the hospital grounds resulted in the deaths of three individuals.
