  • Former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy led a massive rally to meet the family of YSRCP worker Nagamalleswara Rao, who ended his life post 2024 election results.

  • The public warmly welcomed Jagan as he travelled from Tadepalli to Rentapalla village in Sattenapalli mandal of Palnadu district.

  • Party leaders and large crowds gathered at Kontepudi and Guntur’s Chuttugunta Centre to express support for the YSRCP chief’s visit.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy embarked on a highly emotional and politically significant rally from Tadepalli in Guntur district to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district. The visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with the grieving family of Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, a YSRCP leader who died by suicide after the 2024 general election results.

A Grieving Family, a Political Gesture

Korlakunta Nagamalleswara Rao, who served as the Upa-sarpanch (Vice-President) of Rentapalla village in Sattenapalli mandal, reportedly took his own life following the emotional and political distress caused by the electoral defeat of the YSR Congress Party in 2024. His demise left a void in the local YSRCP cadre and created a wave of anguish among grassroots workers.

Responding to this, Mr. Jagan began his journey at 9 a.m. from his residence in Tadepalli. His decision to personally meet the bereaved family was seen as a mark of respect, reassurance, and moral support.

Massive Public Support Along the Route

As Mr. Jagan entered Palnadu district, he received a rousing welcome at Kontepudi. Hundreds of YSRCP supporters and local residents filled the streets, many waving party flags and chanting slogans in support of their leader.

Several prominent YSRCP leaders including:

  • Gopireddy Srinivasa Reddy

  • Kasu Mahesh Reddy

  • Namburu Sankarrao

  • Bolla Brahmanaidu

  • Gajjala Sudheer (Sattenapalli in-charge)

joined the rally to greet Mr. Jagan and walk alongside him in a show of party unity and commitment to grassroots cadres.

Overwhelming Public Response at Chuttugunta

At Chuttugunta Centre in Guntur city, the rally witnessed an exceptional turnout, with ordinary citizens joining spontaneously to support the YSRCP president. People lined the roads, clicked photos, and shared emotional messages on social media, hailing Jagan’s visit as a gesture of compassion.

Supporters were seen offering garlands, flowers, and occasionally breaking into tears as Jagan’s convoy passed by. Party workers hailed his presence as a rebuilding moment for YSRCP morale, especially in constituencies still recovering from last year’s electoral loss.

Political Rebuilding Begins in Palnadu

While the rally is rooted in a personal condolence visit, analysts believe it marks the beginning of Jagan’s emotional reconnection with the grassroots. After stepping down from the Chief Minister’s post post-2024 polls, Mr. Jagan has been gradually rebuilding the party’s base, particularly in districts like Palnadu, where YSRCP had previously enjoyed significant support.

This visit not only served as comfort for the grieving family but also sent a clear signal to party workers — that no sacrifice or setback will go unnoticed by the leadership.

Rentapalla Awaits Jagan

As the rally moved closer to Rentapalla village, anticipation grew. Locals arranged for traditional welcome ceremonies, and banners featuring images of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy adorned the village entrance. People gathered in large numbers near the home of the deceased, waiting to catch a glimpse of the former CM and share their sentiments.

Jagan is expected to:

  • Spend time with the family of Mr. Rao

  • Offer condolences and a financial aid package

  • Meet with local party volunteers and discuss their concerns

Broader Implications for YSRCP

Though this was a non-political visit, the scale and public response highlighted YSRCP’s lingering popularity in interior Andhra, especially among loyal rural and backward class communities.

Observers note that Jagan’s continued connection with grassroots workers could be key to revitalising the party ahead of upcoming local elections. His message — that no party worker is forgotten, even in defeat — resonated widely across social and news platforms.

Emotional and Strategic

The Tadepalli-to-Sattenapalli rally was more than a condolence visit. It was an emotional gesture, a political recalibration, and a public display of YS Jagan’s enduring connect with the people.

As the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh evolves, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s presence in villages like Rentapalla reminds his supporters and critics alike that he remains a pivotal figure in state politics — one who knows the pulse of his base and is willing to walk the extra mile for them, literally and symbolically.
