Jet Freight Logistics Limited (JFLL), a Mumbai-based integrated logistics company, has announced a major milestone in the Indian logistics and air cargo sector. On April 28, 2025, the company revealed its strategic collaboration with Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), Seclink Group, and Confity Capital Partners. As a part of a multi-aircraft order, this partnership will make Jet Freight Logistics the first Indian cargo airline to operate widebody Airbus A330 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) aircraft for cargo operations.
Strategic Collaboration Under Airbus A330 P2F Program
The agreement signifies a significant leap forward for Jet Freight Logistics, as it becomes the launch customer for a pioneering Airbus A330 P2F programme. This collaboration is designed to strengthen India’s air cargo capabilities, with the Airbus A330 aircraft providing superior capacity and operational efficiency. The widebody freighters will play a crucial role in meeting the rising demand for air cargo services in India, which is witnessing rapid growth due to booming e-commerce, expanding exports, and infrastructural improvements.
Key Features of the Airbus A330 P2F
The Airbus A330 P2F aircraft offers substantial advantages over other freighters in its class, including a gross payload of up to 62 tonnes. The aircraft can accommodate 18,581 cubic feet of containerized cargo, allowing Jet Freight to cater to the increasing demand for high-volume, high-value goods transportation. Notably, the A330-200P2F variant is capable of carrying 60 tonnes of cargo over 7,700 kilometers, making it ideal for both regional and long-haul operations.
Transforming India’s Air Cargo Landscape
Jet Freight’s involvement in this project is poised to transform the logistics landscape in India. By introducing widebody Airbus A330 P2F aircraft, the company aims to increase cargo capacity significantly, boosting operational efficiency and reducing costs per unit of freight. This move is aligned with India’s growing position as a global logistics hub, especially in the context of its increasing participation in international trade.
Vision and Growth Plans
Richard Theknath, Chairman and Managing Director of Jet Freight Logistics, expressed his enthusiasm for the venture, saying, "This partnership is a testament to our commitment to staying ahead of the curve. With the Airbus A330 P2F, we will be better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our customers, ensuring timely, reliable, and scalable air cargo solutions. This collaboration strengthens our position as India’s first and leading operator in the widebody cargo airline space."
The Airbus A330 P2F aircraft is expected to revolutionize freight transportation across India and beyond. As India continues to grow as a logistics and freight hub, Jet Freight Logistics is strategically poised to lead this transformation, driven by its fleet expansion and operational excellence.
