Hemant Soren called the deceased Kerala baby “immortal” after her organs were donated.
-
He praised the parents’ courage and compassion during their time of grief.

The Jharkhand government will strengthen the State’s organ donation policy, he said.
Hemant Soren paid heartfelt tribute to a 10-month-old girl from Kerala whose parents chose to donate her organs after her death.
Calling the act extraordinary, Mr. Soren said the child had become “immortal” by giving life to others through organ donation.
In a post on X on Thursday (February 19, 2026), he described the decision of the grieving parents as an example of immense courage and humanity.
“Unbearable Loss, Extraordinary Decision”
Referring to the infant’s parents, Mrs. Sherin N John and Mr. Arun Abraham, the Chief Minister said that losing a child is the most unbearable moment for any parent.
“At a time of grief, the decision… to donate the organs of their beloved child is not ordinary, but an example of remarkable courage, sacrifice, and compassion,” Mr. Soren said.
He added that the act was more than organ donation — it was a testament to faith in humanity.
Strengthening Organ Donation Policy in Jharkhand
Mr. Soren also stated that the Government of Jharkhand would take all necessary steps to strengthen the State’s organ donation policy.
The move signals the government’s intent to:
-
Promote awareness about organ donation
-
Improve institutional frameworks
-
Encourage ethical and transparent transplantation systems
-
Support families who take such life-saving decisions
Organ donation continues to be a critical public health need in India, where thousands of patients await transplants every year.
