The weekend provided a boost to the box office collections of two major films, Kesari 2 starring Akshay Kumar and Jaat starring Sunny Deol, as both films experienced a significant rise in earnings on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Kesari 2, the sequel to the hit film Kesari, made Rs 12.25 crore on Sunday, pushing its total box office collection to Rs 29.75 crore by the end of the weekend. The film, based on the aftermath of the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre, had a strong opening, collecting Rs 7.75 crore on its release day, followed by Rs 9.50 crore on Saturday. With a solid Sunday performance, Kesari 2 has established itself as a major box office contender in the ongoing season.

On the other hand, Jaat, which had a steady run at the box office in the past few days, also saw its earnings rise on Sunday. The film collected Rs 5.15 crore on Sunday, increasing its total earnings to Rs 74.55 crore. The film had earned Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday, so the Sunday spike further cemented its place in the list of successful releases.

However, not all films performed as well. Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith Kumar, had a relatively stable performance over the weekend. On Sunday, the film collected Rs 6 crore, slightly down from its previous day's Rs 6.75 crore. Despite this small drop, the film's cumulative earnings reached Rs 137.65 crore, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the season so far.

Similarly, Odela 2, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, continued its underperformance at the box office. The film, which started off with Rs 85 lakh on its opening day, saw a dip in earnings over the weekend. It collected Rs 61 lakh on Sunday, bringing its total earnings to Rs 2.8 crore. The movie failed to generate significant audience interest, as reflected in its consistently low box office figures.

Overall, while Kesari 2 and Jaat showed promising performances, Good Bad Ugly and Odela 2 struggled to maintain momentum at the box office.
