-
KP Energy has received in principle ISTS connectivity for its 100 MW wind power project in Gujarat from CTUIL as per GNA Regulations 2022
-
The project will connect via a 400 kV transmission line from the generation site to Jam Khambhaliya pooling station marking a key grid integration milestone
-
This development supports KP Energy's expansion in green energy and strengthens access to national markets through power exchange and open access routes
KP Energy Limited has announced a significant milestone in its renewable energy journey with the receipt of in principle approval for Inter State Transmission System connectivity for its 100 megawatt wind power project located in Gujarat. The company made this disclosure to the stock exchanges in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI LODR Regulations 2015
The approval has been granted by the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited CTUIL the apex authority responsible for interstate transmission infrastructure. This grant empowers KP Energy to connect its wind project directly to the national grid infrastructure via ISTS under the GNA Regulations 2022
The project will be integrated into the ISTS network at Jam Khambhaliya Gujarat through a 400 kilovolt connection point. The connectivity will be facilitated by a dedicated single circuit transmission line between KP Energy's generation site and the Jam Khambhaliya pooling station
The key highlights of the granted connectivity are as follows
-
Project Capacity: 100 megawatts
-
Connectivity Point: Jam Khambhaliya Gujarat 400 kilovolt
-
Transmission Line: KPEL to Jam Khambhaliya PS 400 kV single circuit line
-
Regulatory Compliance: As per applicable CERC and CEA technical and communication standards
KP Energy Limited noted that this milestone makes the company one of the few developers in India that are directly connected to the Inter State Transmission System ISTS. This is not only a mark of technical capability but also a testament to its long term strategic roadmap in the renewable energy sector
The successful implementation of the 400 kV dedicated transmission line is a critical step that will enable seamless evacuation of green power from the generation site to the national grid. This development comes at a time when India is intensifying efforts to ramp up its renewable energy capacity and strengthen grid infrastructure in line with its climate goals and sustainability targets
With this connectivity approval KP Energy aims to expand its footprint in the national renewable corridor. The company stated that ISTS connectivity allows for greater flexibility in market access including open access and participation in power exchanges. This unlocks commercial opportunities at a national scale and positions the company as a major enabler in India's clean energy mission
This strategic project supports both state and national energy transition plans by enhancing the availability of clean energy in high demand zones. Gujarat is already a major hub for renewable energy projects due to its high wind resource potential and favorable policy environment
KP Energy further emphasized that its approach goes beyond project development. The company is committed to integrated green infrastructure development which includes transmission planning grid connectivity regulatory compliance and market linkages
The successful securing of the ISTS grant from CTUIL also speaks to KP Energy's preparedness and capabilities in navigating India's complex power infrastructure ecosystem. The grant reflects confidence in the company’s technical design regulatory approach and execution capacity
This 100 MW project will further diversify KP Energy's project portfolio and support its ambition to scale up to multi gigawatt capacity in the near future. The company has already played a significant role in the growth of wind energy in Gujarat and other states
According to the management this move strengthens the backbone of the project and represents a major inflection point in the company's national scale ambitions. With transmission being a critical hurdle in renewable energy deployment KP Energy's proactive work in securing ISTS connectivity is seen as a model for the sector
The approval comes under the new GNA regulations 2022 which provide a framework for connectivity and access to the interstate transmission system and aim to simplify grid integration for developers with long term plans
The market is expected to respond positively to this development as it improves visibility on KP Energy's project implementation and long term revenue generation potential. The connectivity grant will also likely enhance investor confidence and attract strategic partnerships for further expansion
As India continues to move toward its target of 500 gigawatts of non fossil fuel capacity by 2030 KP Energy's contribution through such integrated infrastructure efforts becomes increasingly critical
